We will be looking at the Classic in this review. It is a hybrid mattress with two coil layers. You can buy it in three different firmness levels: luxury firm, firm, and plush soft. Saatva’s luxury firm mattress is its top-selling option, which is why we will be taking a closer look at this mattress. 

If the classic model is the one you are buying, you can choose the mattress’s height. There are two different heights that the mattress comes in. The premier luxury model is 14.5”  tall, and the slim custom model is 11.5.”  The two models are very similar. It comes down to personal preference in the end.

What Are Classic Saatva Mattresses Made of?

While Saatva offers various mattresses, we are currently reviewing its best-selling mattress, the 11.5″ model. The mattress contains foam and two kinds of coils: coils made of high-grade materials and coils wrapped individually. The cover of the mattress is made of organic material. When you are considering a mattress, evaluating the mattress’s various components is the best thing to do. 

Cover

The cover is made out of anti-microbial organic cotton. It has foam quilting that makes it more comfortable to sleep on this mattress. It feels like a Euro Top mattress. There is also dense foam surrounding the perimeter of the mattress for additional support.

Memory Foam

Under the quilting, there is a small layer of memory of foam. This layer relieves pressure across the shoulders and hips while providing also providing the body’s lumbar area with the support that it needs.

 Individually Wrapped Micro Coils

The coils give a slightly bouncy feeling to a bed while providing additional support as well, especially in the third middle part of the mattress. The coils help with contouring also.

The Innerspring

In this layer, there are thick coils made out of high-grade steel. It makes this mattress more breathable, resilient, and supportive. It makes the mattress sturdy, so sagging isn’t as much of a problem. The way the coils are placed means the mattress is quite bouncy and allows the air to circulate.

Pressure Relief

Combining individually wrapped coils with plush quilting is the ideal way of relieving pressure over the body. The layer of memory foam supports the lumbar. At the same time, the shoulders are provided with relief by the quilting. The body is kept supported by the mattress even when your partner moves around throughout the night.

Motion Transfer

Motion transfer is normally not as much of a problem in memory foam mattresses. However, this mattress has two high-grade steel coil sets. Its motion transfer is acceptable when compared to other types of innerspring mattresses. However, for couples who share a bed, they might be happier using a memory foam mattress. If you would like a mattress that can absorb the motion, it isn’t the best option. If you are searching for a mattress that has a minimum amount of motion transfer, usually something that is made completely out of memory foam will usually be the best option.

Edge Support 

Are you planning to use the whole mattress? If you re, then you will want to ensure that the edges of the mattress have support. The innerspring mattress from Saatva has foam encased along its edges. That means it provides outstanding edge support, making it a cut above other types of innerspring mattresses that are available.

Temperature Regulation

This mattress uses no advanced technologies to keep it cool. It does not contain any gel memory foam. However, it does contain dual coil layers to allow the circulation of air throughout the entire mattress. It helps keep the mattress interior cool, keeping the bed at a very comfortable temperature. There is an extra coil layer in the Saatva, so it better than the typical innerspring or hybrid mattress. It is trapping heat also a lot less likely compared to foam mattresses.
