woman-sleeping-on-oceano-mattressBrentwood Home manufactures the Oceano Hybrid Mattress. It is a Los Angeles-based company that specializes in making beds out of sustainably-sourced materials. The Oceano has multiple comfort layers that are made out of gel-infused memory foam, organic wool, and pocketed micro-coils.

Brentwood Home manufactures four different models of mattresses. Their best-selling Oceano Hybrid Mattress, Crystal Cove, Cedar Natural Luxe, and the Cypress Memory Foam.

The Ocean mattress is one of the company’s top-tier products and is very popular with consumers. The mattress uses a revolutionary design. There are two coil systems incorporated into the mattress and a top layer made out of gel-infused memory foam. The Oceano Mattress, like all of Brentwood Home’s mattresses, has been designed so that it is both functional and aesthetically attractive. It is handmade by local Los Angeles area artisans and fabricators like all other mattresses that Brentwood Home makes.

Who is the Oceano Hybrid Mattress designed For?

  • It is the ideal mattress for all types of sleepers. The Oceano mattress has outstanding coil spring support, which also means anyone can enjoy this mattress. Whether you are a heavy or light sleeper, a stomach sleeper, or a side sleeper, this mattress will provide you with the ultimate sleep experience.
  • It is well-suited for individuals who sleep hot. The top layer of the Oceano is a wool layer. It wicks moisture away to keep you comfortable and sucks out the body heat at the same time. Then heat is transferred from the mattress via the strong airflow within the coil springs.
  • For people who like their mattress to have a bounce, Oceano mattresses combine micro coils that work with layers of memory foam to provide you with a good bounce and responsiveness.
  • This mattress offers excellent support based on its combination of memory foam and coils. It is firm enough to adequately support your stomach and back as well as your hips and shoulders.
  • You prefer not to wake up during the middle of the night. Motion is isolated by Oceano very well due to its combination of a memory foam layer and micro coils wrapped individually. When your sleeping partner moves, you won’t feel anything.

How Firm is the Oceano Mattress?

It has a 6 rating, which is a medium-firm mattress. Due to its wool layers and memory foam, the mattress has a plush and conforming feel. Its coil-on-coil design makes sure that the surface is kept responsive for sleepers and an even plane is maintained.

Mattress-Firmness-Small

A majority of sleepers experience a combination of sleeping “on” and “in” the Oceano mattress. It is common for hybrid models that have a thicker comfort system. However, it varies from the spring feeling that a traditional innerspring mattress tends to feature.

What is the Oceano Hybrid Mattress Made of?

Brentwood-Home-Oceano-Hybrid-Mattress-LayersHow is the luxurious and comfortable Oceano mattress made? Let’s take a closer look at this mattress’s composition to determine why it is one of the top mattresses today.

Cover

The cover of the Oceano mattress is made out of Tencel. This is an eco-friendly plant-based type of fiber that is used to make very soft and breathable cloth. This special quilted cover helps to keep the mattress cool and ventilated. The mattress also uses New Zealand wool, which is well-known for its ability to wick away moisture and increase ventilation and air circulation. New Zealand wool is a sustainable material used by Brentwood Homes in the Oceano and all of its other handcrafted mattresses.

Comfort Layers

The mattress layers after the cover provide you with all of the comfort that you need. New Zealand GOTS-certified wool is featured in the top layer. There are moisture-wicking properties contained in the material and it is also naturally breathable. This provides cooler surface temperatures to sleepers.  Next comes a 2-inch low-density soft gel memory foam layer. The memory foam contours to the sleeper’s individual body shape and helps to relieve pressure, tension, and pain within the body, especially in such problem areas as the back, hips, and joints. The memory foam helps with motion isolation as well. So if you tend to move around a lot during the night it won’t disturb your sleeping partner.

Individually Wrapped Micro-coils

This layer is around two and a half inches thick and contains coils that give the Oceano mattress firmness and support and provide a traditional mattress feeling. The micro-coils are wrapped individually, respond, adjust to your body’s movements while you are sleeping, and offer you firm support no matter which position you happen to sleep in.

Transitional Layer

This layer is made out of CertiPUR-US certified 1.8 PCF polyfoam and is situated under the micro-coil layers. This high-density material works to prevent the sleeping from sink through the comfort layers down into the support layers which feel much firmer and denser.

Individually Wrapped Base Coils

This is an eight-inch thick layer. It provides the Oceano mattress with strong support and firmness and a traditional mattress feel. The coils are zoned to provide enhanced support to the sleeper’s shoulders, back, and hips while cradling the body’s lighter areas. The strong coils give the mattress solid edge support that prevents the mattress from breaking down and losing its shape.

Heat Dissipation

The Oceano offers excellent temperature neutrality. The top organic wool layers are highly breathable, and moisture is wicked away from the body so that the sleeper is kept cool. Steady airflow is also promoted by both of the coil layers so that a comfortable temperature is maintained.

Hybrids typically offer excellent temperature neutrality due to their air-circulating coils. Models like the Oceano offer better-than-average cooling due to its highly breathable comfort layers. Mattresses with solid-foam support cores usually sleep warmest since they tend to absorb and trap more of the sleeper’s body heat.

Edge Support

Mattresses that have strong edge support make getting into and out of bed easy. This also provides the right support if you tend to sleep near the edge of your mattress. Like other types of spring mattresses, the Oceano provides excellent edge support. Reinforced coils are featured on the perimeter, so the edges are kept rigid and supportive. This can be highly beneficial for individuals who have mobility issues or limitations.

Motion Isolation

One thing that spring mattresses are infamous for is having an excessive amount of bounce. For sleeping partners, this can be quite disruptive. Hybrid mattresses minimize the problem by materials being added, which reduces the amount of motion transfer. This makes sleepers possible to enjoy a certain amount of bounce without shockwaves being generated for their sleeping partner. Also, since the coils are wrapped individually, energy gets isolated at the impact point.

Brentwood Homes offers a 365-night sleep trial on the Ocano Hybrid Mattress. You cannot get a return on the mattress until at least 30 nights have elapsed. It is referred to as the 30-night break-in period and was designed to give you enough time to try the mattress out. After that time has elapsed, if you still do not think it is the best mattress for you, it can be returned.

A 25-year warranty comes with the mattress. The warranty is partially prorated. During the first ten years, Brentwood Home will repair or replace a defective mattress. Owners must cover the shipping and transportation charges. In years 11 to 20, owners pay a prorated fee for replacing their mattress of 50% of the product’s original price, along with an additional 5% for each successive year (50% in year 11, 55%  in year 12, etc). For the 21st to 25th year, the owner is required to pay a 95% flat prorated replacement fee of the original price of the product.

The Oceano mattress can be purchased at Amazon.com and the Brentwood Home website. The mattress is only shipped to the contiguous United States. The company also offers White Glove delivery along with a $199 in-home assembly fee. If you want them to take away your old mattress, that will cost an extra $75. You can use the free curbside FedEx delivery if you prefer not to pay for this service.

The Oceano mattress receives high marks for this category because there is no noticeable smell when the box is opened. Most foam mattresses exhibit some type of off-gassing and odor due to the mattress being wrapped in plastic and compressed whenever they are shipped. The Oceano Mattress, however, does not have a lot of odor.
